![]() Before opening Sweet Aromas, a coffee shop located in Downtown Bellefontaine, Beth Zell always had a special passion for sharing her love for exciting coffee flavors and baked goods with others. “It brings me great pleasure to see someone’s face light up when they enjoy something I have made,” said Beth. “It’s exciting that I have been able to turn my passion into a business that I enjoy going to each day. I have surrounded myself with a wonderful family of staff that share my passion for coffee, food and serving others.” Sweet Aromas serves locally roasted coffee from Hemisphere Coffee Company, located in Mechanicsburg. The coffee is always roasted and served fresh for their customers. The Sweet Aromas team also bake their scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls, macarons, chocolate chip cookies and even dog treats (Brant’s Biscuits – their son’s business) right in their own kitchen. “Everything is baked in small batches using family recipes,” said Beth. “If you stop in for your morning cup of coffee, you might even smell the cinnamon rolls as they come out of the oven.”
It was always Will and Beth Zell’s dream to open a coffee shop and bakery. When the building at 120 East Court Avenue became available, they jumped at the opportunity to purchase it in 2012. “Will and I are both entrepreneurs at heart,” said Beth. “We both love the excitement of starting and growing a business. It has been fulfilling to serve our community and to be a part of the Downtown Bellefontaine revitalization.” Beth and Will were both born and raised in Logan County and are very passionate about the community. “Walking into Sweet Aromas each morning and seeing members of our community gathered together is the most rewarding part of owning a coffee shop,” said Beth. During the current pandemic, they have taken on the challenge of staying open for their customers, so their customers have access to something that brings them comfort and a sense of normalcy. “We have taken the virus seriously and we have put many procedures in place to protect our customers and staff,” said Beth. “The interesting thing is we have learned more about our business and how we can operate in different ways and still be successful. For instance, we have implemented a touch-less pick up area for orders that are placed online. This has been hugely successful, and our customers are loving it. Essentially, it is as close as we can get to having a drive-thru service. This is something that we will continue to use even after the social distancing rules are lifted.” The Zell family have been long-time supporters of the Logan County Chamber. Mr. Zell has previously served on the Chamber Board and they firmly believe in the significant impact the Chamber has on the local business and tourism community. Please join us in congratulating Sweet Aromas for being selected as the Business of the month for the month of May.
