It all began in April 1991 for Scott Staley, owner of Staley & Sons Powerwashing. Working full time for Honda, Scott had an idea: what if he started detailing boats and cars near his home in Russells Point as a side business? Armed with a Briggs & Stratton 5-HP Power Washer and his many connections around Indian Lake, Scott quickly developed business relationships with boat dealers and condo developers. Staley & Sons Powerwashing was established, and in 1997, the business was officially incorporated. Today, Scott is celebrating 30 successful years as a Logan County business. These days, he uses an advanced low-pressure cleaning system to clean homes, roofs, and sidewalks in addition to pressure washing services. Staley SoftWash, a sister company to Staley & Sons Powerwashing, is certified by SoftWash Systems of Orlando, Florida. Scott began this side of the business in late 2018. As of 2017, SoftWash Systems have been used in 30 states and 5 countries and in-network companies like Staley SoftWash have cleaned over 100,000 roofs and structures around the world. Scott explains, “Soft washing is the alternative to pressure washing. We use water-based, biodegradable chemicals. They emulsify dirt and grime, break down bugs’ nests and webs as well as kill mold, mildew, algae, and bacteria, sanitizing the surface we are cleaning.” Soft washing uses only a third of the water used for pressure washing, lasts 4-6 times longer, and doesn’t erode the surface like pressure washing often can. Soft washing is safe and effective on many different surfaces, including slate, vinyl and aluminum siding, wood and composite decks, and wood and vinyl fencing.
