From four beehives to store shelves in all 50 states, Nate's Nectar proves that sometimes the sweetest success stories start with a simple hobby.

Nate's Nectar began 10 years ago when Nathan Davis discovered beekeeping while attending college. After joining a local bee club and learning from experienced beekeepers, he purchased four nucs (starter bee colonies) before graduation. What started as a fascinating hobby quickly grew into something much bigger.

Those first four hives multiplied into twenty, and before long, the Davis family found themselves with plenty of honey – and a decision to make. "We

sat down as a family and asked ourselves an honest question: Did we want this to stay a hobby we all enjoyed, or did we want to build something?"

They chose to build.

The family began selling at farmers markets and local events, listening carefully to customers and learning what people loved. As demand grew, so did the business. A pivotal moment came when co-owner Erika Davis walked into Grove City’s Giant Eagle Market District and simply asked if they would be interested in carrying Nate's Nectar products. That conversation led to the company's first major retail opportunity, and the momentum hasn't slowed since.

Today, Nate's Nectar products can be found in retail stores across the country, online marketplaces, regional grocery chains, and even on national television. In March, the company made its debut on QVC and completely sold out during its first appearance. They'll return to QVC on June 30, with another appearance already scheduled for July.

Despite the national growth, the heart of the company remains firmly rooted in Logan County. For the Davis family, choosing Logan County wasn't really a choice at all. "We were all born and raised here."

As a local farm family, they built their facility and commercial kitchen on their own land, allowing them to grow the business while staying connected to the community that helped shape them. That local connection remains a major part of who they are today.

Nate's Nectar is truly a family operation, with each member playing an important role in the business's success. The team includes: Nathan Davis – Co-Owner & Business Development, Erika Davis – Co-Owner & Marketing Management, Lauryn Strayer – Operations & Candles, Marissa Davis – Operations & Hair Care, Jessica Finch – Skin Care, Tim Davis – Operations, and Emily Davis – Operations. Every member of the team has been involved since the beginning, and every product is still made with love in small batches from their FDA-certified kitchen located on the family's farm near Bloom Center.

While raw honey remains a customer favorite, Nate's Nectar has expanded far beyond its original offerings. Their growing product lineup includes:
  • Raw Honey
  • Stingin' Hot Honey in three heat levels
  • Creamed Honey in ten unique flavors
  • Beeswax Hair Care Products
  • Beeswax Skin Care Products
  • Handcrafted Beeswax Candles

The company's willingness to innovate has been a key ingredient in its success. Recently, they introduced their new "Flights" collections featuring assortments of hot honey and creamed honey
varieties. The gift-friendly packaging became an instant hit during the holiday season, selling out completely.

Customer demand was so strong that the team has already begun preparing inventory months in advance for the upcoming holiday season. To keep up with growing demand, the company has also invested in updated equipment and facility improvements designed to increase efficiency and production capacity.
One factor that sets Nate's Nectar apart is its diverse business strategy. The company reaches customers through multiple channels, including direct-to-consumer sales through its website, retail stores nationwide, regional grocery distributors, online marketplaces such as Uncommon Goods, and national television sales through QVC. This balanced approach has allowed the business to continue growing while remaining resilient and adaptable.

Along with
their successful launch on QVC, Nate’s Nectar has had several other recent accomplishments. In 2024, their Stingin’ Hot Honey won the Spicy Flave Awards in the honey

category. That year they were also awarded the 2024 Logan County Farm Family of the Year.

Even as their reach expands nationwide, Nate's Nectar remains committed to supporting Logan County. The team regularly provides educational beekeeping demonstrations for schools and 4-H clubs, donates products to local charity events, and recently spoke to Indian Lake Middle School's "Girls with Pearls" and "Guys with Ties" programs to inspire future entrepreneurs. Their message is simple: dream big and don't be afraid to take a chance on yourself.
As they celebrate their 10th year in business, the future looks bright for Nate's Nectar. The team is excited about returning to QVC, preparing for another busy holiday season, and launching a brand-new product they hope to introduce later this year.

Their advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? "Bet on yourself and don't be afraid to reach for the stars. If Erika hadn't walked into that Giant Eagle and been willing to hear 'no,' there's no telling where we'd be today. The worst anyone can say is no. Every yes that's changed our business started with someone being brave enough to ask."

Here's a fun fact that many people don't know about Nate's Nectar: their products are sold in at least one retail store in every state in the United States. And if you happen to stop by during a busy production day, you'll likely discover another secret to their success: The operations team runs on honey lattes.

We are proud to celebrate this remarkable family business and look forward to watching their continued success for years to come. For more information, visit Nate’s Nectar online or follow them on Facebook and other social media channels.

Please join us in congratulating Nate’s Nectar on being the Logan County Chamber of Commerce June 2026 Business of the Month.
