April Business of the Month: Honestly Clean

For more than five years, Honestly Clean has made a meaningful impact by helping keep our homes, businesses and rental properties clean, welcoming and ready to serve others.

Honestly Clean is a true hometown story. Owner Misti Smith, a Logan County native, built her business from the ground up while working to create a better future for her family. As a single mom navigating financial challenges, Misti began the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace program through her church and started cleaning homes to earn extra income.

What began as a small side job doing what she loved – cleaning – it quickly grew through word-of-mouth and community support. As more people trusted her with their homes and businesses, Misti expanded her team – turning a simple idea into a thriving local business. Through it all, she remains grounded in her faith and grateful for the path that brought her here.

Today, Honestly Clean is powered by a team that truly cares about the people they serve. Bret McFadden, Director of Operations, has been a key part of the team for nearly two years, helping guide daily operations. Chasidee Hamilton, who has been there since the beginning, is now stepping into a full-time Operations Support Specialist role.

In addition to leadership, the company is supported by a team of 23 hardworking cleaning professionals who serve clients daily. Their commitment and attention to detail make it possible for Honestly Clean to deliver consistent, high-quality service across Logan County.

For Misti, there was never a question about where to grow her business. Logan County is home. Honestly Clean has been located in The Main Street Marketplace (130 S. Main Street, Bellefontaine) for the past three years and is preparing for a move to 106 S. Detroit Street, Bellefontaine around May 1st – which they are extremely excited for. No matter where their office is located, their team remains out in the community every day, supporting local residents and businesses.

Honestly Clean offers residential and commercial cleaning services, with a specialty in Airbnb and rental turnovers – an important service in a growing local market. Their ability to manage tight turnaround schedules, along with offering laundry services for out-of-town property owners, makes them a valuable partner for many in the community.

They also stand behind their work with a 24-hour quality guarantee, reflecting their commitment to doing the job right.

What truly sets Honestly Clean apart is their commitment to relationships. The team takes time to understand each client’s unique needs, recognizing that no two homes or businesses are alike. For those starting their own business journey, Misti’s advice is simple: be patient, keep learning, and take pride in your work. Lessons she learned early on from the McDonald family at Dairy Queen – “If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean,” and “The customer is always right” – still guide her approach today.

As the year continues, Honestly Clean is excited about what lies ahead – both professionally and personally. With faith as their foundation, Misti and her team are confident in continued growth and new opportunities to serve the community.
