    Wren's Florist & Greenhouse

    September 2017

Please Join Us in Congratulating Wren's Florist & Greenhouse as September's Logan County Chamber Business & Entrepreneur of the Month.

Wren's Florist and Greenhouse has been a part of the Logan County community for nearly a century. Ninety-four years ago, Sample Wren and his son Lionel "Pete" purchased an existing floral and greenhouse business. The rest, they say, is history. In 1956, Dick and Polly Neff, who had worked for the Wrens, purchased the business. The Neff's then sold the business to Carl Lowery and Kaye Couchman in 1981. After working for Dick and Polly Neff for 14 years, Carl and Kaye saw an excellent opportunity to build upon the strong foundation that the Neff's had created. Together with their families, Carl and Kaye built and expanded Wren's to emphasize the importance of quality, care, and support of the community. Following the passing of Carl in 2003, Kaye continues as the current owner of the business. Currently, there are three full-time employees, nine part-time employees, and several family members and friends who are available to work on special occasions.

Throughout the years, Wren's has experienced many changes and transitions that have impacted the way they do business. From technology, to government regulations, and changes in both the professional world and society in general, Wren's has had to learn to adapt to the ever-changing business world. Today, the business focuses primarily on being a full-service florist, and strives to deliver excellent customer service and to always provide exceptional, quality products.

Melody Couchman, a florist at Wren's, shared the following about the specialness of her industry, stating, "One of the best aspects of the business, and the floral industry in general, is the relationships that are established with people that are more friends and family rather than customers." Their business gets to be a part of all stages in life. From celebrating marriages, births, anniversaries, and graduations, to providing comfort through losses and illnesses, their floral arrangements are truly a part of people"s lives. They consider the work that they do to be so much more than a business. It is "genuine care for the people we serve and the community we are proud to be a part of."

The team at Wren's believes the most powerful marketing strategy for their business isn't a strategy, rather, it is following tradition. The business has always built genuine relationships with customers. In return, Wren's has valued the trust and loyalty given by their customers, offered the best service that they can provide, and have appreciated the support they have received by the entire community. They try to give back as much as possible, and as often as they are able.

In 2011, the Logan County Chamber recognized Wren's for their outstanding community involvement by awarding them the Integrity in Business award at the Annual Chamber Dinner. Also, the Community Blood Center Life Saving Ambassadors Club has honored Wren's with a Platinum membership for hosting 11 successful blood drives. Wren's has also been honored with the Bellefontaine City Schools Friends of Education recognition. For several years, Wren's participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life as a Silver, Gold, and Platinum team sponsor. More recently, they have been instrumental in supporting the Logan County Cancer Society's Lights of Love Memory Tree display during the holidays, and the Doors of EnCOURAGEment event each spring. Being a Chamber member is to them, supporting another community tradition. They recognize the efforts that the Chamber puts forth to grow and improve Logan County, much like their beautiful floral displays have done for nearly one hundred years.

We thank the team at Wren's Florist and Greenhouse for their membership to the Chamber since its inception and their years of service and commitment to the residents of Logan County and the Chamber!
