big orange shoe shop The Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize Big Orange Shoe Shop LLC as May’s Business/Entrepreneur of the Month.

Big Orange Shoe Shop opened in Logan County in 1975 by Ken Lehman who was the Cross Country Coach for West Liberty-Salem Schools. In 1981 the business was purchased by Ralph & Pat Clement and then in 1997 Dennis & Julie McIntosh purchased the shop.

Each of Dennis and Julie’s three children worked for the business as well as one son-in-law, 2 sisters and a special neighbor. They have also employed many high school students throughout the years. Currently they have one manager and one part time person working at the shoe shop. Big Orange Shoe Shop offers athletic footwear and apparel specializing in running shoes and team sports. Their newest line is Pearl Izumi Cycling Shoes. They also carry children’s shoes. All of their products are sold below the suggested retail price with a savings as much as $10 per pair. Dennis and Julie like to stay in tune with the needs of Logan County and the local community. They have been guest speakers at church group bible studies, local organizations and health fairs as well as sponsoring numerous athletic events, after proms and other events throughout the community. Julie also served on the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for three years.
