The Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize Thompson Electric as January's Business/Entrepreneur of the Month.
Thompson Electric has been in business for 62 years. Harold Thompson started the business in 1950 and over the years several family members have been involved. Gary Thompson, Harold's son, began accompanying his father on service calls when he was old enough to hold a flashlight and, his first official job was filling the insulation hopper the summer after his 7th grade school year. He began working full time in 1972 and took over after Harold retired in 1988. Sue Thompson, Harold's daughter, joined the business in 1964 and worked until her death in 2007. Marianne Elmore, Harold's daughter, is the current administrative assistant and bookkeeper, and has worked with the business for 28 years. The Thompson family has lived and worked in Logan County for more than four generations and have many long standing relationships with customers in the area.
The business provides complete electrical services to clients in the residential, commercial, industrial, government, medical and agricultural sectors of the local economy. These services range from small residential calls to larger projects such as churches, schools and commercial buildings. They are licensed by the State of Ohio and have several employees with fire alarm installation certification. In addition, they strive to support he community through charitable donation of their services to local non-profit organizations. They also have been a sponsor supporting city youth baseball teams for more than 40 years, and have been recognized as the BHS Booster Club business of the year. Gary and the dedicated and skilled employees strive to continue what Harold began when he founded Thompson Electric as an organization that offers high quality work, while treating customers with honesty and integrity, regardless of the size of the job. The staff currently averages 22 1/2 years with the business. They have four employees with over 23 years with the company, and one with almost 40 years. These employees offer a combines total of 255 years of electrical experience.
They believe membership in the Logan County Area Chamber of Commerce is essential for the mutual success of all Logan County businesses, and they take great pride in being a supporter of an organization that contributes to the growth and development of the community.
